Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Nearly two thousand years ago, I preached my inaugural sermon on a Sabbath morning in Nazareth. My text was taken from Isaiah 61:1, 2

“God’s Spirit is on me; He’s chosen me to preach the message of Good News to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free, to announce, this is God’s year to act!”

Today, I repeat this message to you because the day of God’s vengeance is near. I know all the statistics and reports on Black America and the source Of all your troubles. In your liberation struggle you have tried everything: petitions, moral persuasion, protest, politics, pleasure, and riches, but they have all failed and you are perishing. If you will -. humble yourselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from your wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive your sins, and heal your land!

I’ll be returning to earth soon to settle My accounts with the nations, and reward those who have been faithful to Me. Because you are a nation within a nation, I will judge you separately! I’ve inspired the publication of this book to help you get ready. It has the very message and religious imagery you need to resolve your double-consciousness dilemma. Individually and as a people, you must break the chains and images of psychological slavery before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

When you were in physical slavery, you cried unto Me and I delivered you out of bondage. Since you’ve been free, you’ve transferred your affections from Me to the possessions and idols of your oppressors. You cannot serve two masters! Double-minded people are unstable in all their ways, and for this reason I cannot now act in your behalf.

“If ye continue in my words, then are ye my disciples indeed, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
