BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Renee Spears Emanuel, co-author of the children's workbook series entitled, "People Of Color In The Bible" is dedicated to mentoring children. She is co-founder of the People of Color Training Center. Ms. Emanuel holds a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with secondary concentrations in the fields of linguistics, audiology and special eduction. She is a gifted singer/composer - having set to music over thirty scripture passages. Ms. Emanuel conducts children's story hours and sing-a-longs. She is best known; however, for her children's workshop entitled, People Of Color In The Bible Workshops: For Beginners.
CHILDREN WORKSHOPS
Renee Spears Emanuel's workshops offer children in the primary and intermediate grade levels a unique learning experience. She acquaints her audiences with the rich biblical legacy of people of color. Ms. Emanuel demonstrates how the Bible can be used to teach many subjects... using a holistic, multi-sensory teaching approach. Astronomy, science, history, geography and health are cleverly explored. Additionally, the link between Hebrew and African culture is clearly evidenced. Ms. Emanuel has observed that as children of color recognize the African presence in biblical history, they quickly develop a keener perception of truth... truths which have been hidden for generations. These workshops consistently spark within children a renewed sense of self-esteem and curiosity. Ms. Emanuel uses visual aids, verbal illustrations, songs and review games to drive her points home. She offers a total of five individual workshops. Audience participation is encouraged throughout.
